New Cast List
Jake Gyllenhal as Chris McCandless
Melinda Clarke as Billie McCandless
Jeff Daniels as Walk McCandless
Scarlett Johansson as Carine McCandless
Jason London as Rainey
Hilary Swank as Jan Burres
Vincent D'Onofrio as Wayne Westerberg
Hall Holbrook as Ron Franz
The reason I chose each of these actors and actresses to replace the original cast of Into The Wild is mostly for all the same reasons. They all somehow in their own way look like the actor who played the real people in the movie. I know how each of the new actors/actresses can act and I believe that all of them can protray the original characters in their own unique way but at the same time, do just as good as the original cast.

Book Vs Movie
When books are turned into movies, there are going to be things that are included in the book but at the same time, new parts are going to be added to the movie as well.
The first thing that really caught my attention in the book was that Jon Krakauer didn't just focus on Chris McCandless. But also on himself. He added parts of his own adventures into the book, to give the reader's a real feel/look at how it is like out in the wild. To go on a journey with few supplies and only one destination on mind. In the movie, they didn't add these parts. I myself, am glad they didn't do this. It was just about Chris way and his journey. You understand the struggles he went through and the obstacles he came across him along the way. The main point is that the movie really represents what Chris was expecting to get out of the experience he decided to take, we got to see him through the actor playing him and the book just told the facts and places Chris went. Personally I didn't really understand or recognize him until I saw the movie.
Something else the book didn't do was let us get to know the people Chris met along the way. In the book, Tracy Tatro was just simply mentioned as 'the girl who had a crush on Chris'. But the movie shows how she had come to get a crush on him. It showed the friendship they created and why such a charming guy, like Chris McCandless would be hard not to fall for. The friendship created between Ron Franz and Chris McCandless was a super powerful one. The movie showed it greatly and brought tears to many viewers when the two character were seperating. You understand what happened in the book but at the same time, you really understand it when you see it.
Finally, something that Jon Krakauer had done is start with Chris entering into Alaska and having him found dead. You can really tell that Jon was writing the book in the order he found the facts along the way. Opening with such a depressing opening gives the whole book that mood throughout. What Jon Krakauer should of done is write Chris' journey from the start of his adventure to the end, when Chris is found dead. It would of been more meaningful, like the movie.
When a book is turned into a movie, there are always going to be differences, no matter what. And since this is a movie based on a true story, it's always a good idea to see the movie to get to the real impression and experience the author wanted you to get.

New Into The Wild Soundtrack
Finding an amount of songs that would replace the original tracks created by Eddie Vedder was quite hard. Seeing as all those songs were written just for the Into The Wild soundtrack.
I tried finding just one band that would stand for the inner-voice of Chris McCandless but felt that not just one band or singer could do that. So I found multiple bands to do so.
In the Book, Into The Wild Chris did a lot of leaving; he would meet new people, get to know them, create a strong bond or relationship with them and then decide to leave. So I feel some of the following songs would be perfect for the moments when Chris was abandoning his new friends. Chris also did a lot of going into new places, a new atmosphere all together: some songs will represent those times when he entered into a whole new place/world of his own. And finally, Chris had many struggles along the way, he was very down and depressed. But at the same time he had moments where he felt so alive and was at his highest. All the songs below I feel would be perfect for the Into The Wild Soundtrack
If I Leave- A Day To Remember
Second Chance- Shinedown
BreakAway- Kelly Clarkson
Stop And Stare- OneRepublic
Tonight- FM Static
Perfect- Hedley
Untitled- Simple Plan
You And Me- Lifehouse
Here Without You- Three Doors Down
I Miss You- Blink 182
Over My Head- Sum 41
Hold On- Good Charlotte
